Serve and Sell
You want to know what irritates me? The thought that you can’t both serve / help others and generate money at the same time.
Some people carry the assumption that if you’re helping and it’s your talent or if it comes natural to you, that you should be giving it away for free - Quite the opposite!
Ask yourself if you’re running a legitimate business or if it’s just an expensive hobby. To share your services/products, get results, and earn money, you must first get into the right mindset.
Sure, at first, talking about money, pricing, or the value of your solution can be intimidating, but you’re the CEO. Your bottom line is the direct result of the impact you make in the world, and to make a big impact you have to get out there and confidently charge a reasonable rate for your product or service. It all boils down to your confidence and simplicity.
When you contribute value, it will return to you 100 percent. Sharing knowledge, connecting others, and supporting acquaintances' needs all count as good deeds, but you still need boundaries. While I happily jump on a call to talk business or answer a few questions, I’ll not be coaching or consulting for free.
Remember two things: first, support the people in your life.
Second, ditch the notion that asking for money is bad, rude, or greedy. If you feel this way, there are some money mindset issues you’ll have to address.
Share the solution you offer and expect others to pay what it’s worth; you’re deserving of every penny.
In this episode, listen for:
Charging for your services - Your time, expertise, products, or advice should not be free
You didn’t embark upon this journey to have a hobby, if it’s a business act like it.
Connect with others through genuine support and helpful conversations, but know when it’s time to charge.
